Off the Track Thoroughbreds

Have you ever heard the term OTTB? Well, if you haven't, now you have. If you don't know what it means, it is an abbreviation for 'off the track Thoroughbreds'. These horses are usually considered 'hot' and un-retrainable. This misconception comes from the fact that they are trained to run. And run. And run. And run. And so on.
Bad news: They will still do this when retired, making them unsuitable for most riders....
unless...the good news happens.
Good news: They can be retrained! Many have successfully gone into other disciplines, including one that went to the World Equestrian Games.
However, retraining is not for everybody. But, if you want a horse, give a retrained OTTB a chance.
